School Audiologist, Citlali Bravo, applied for the grant and organized the hand-over ceremony.  School PrincipalJose Luis Delagadello Salazar introduced President of the School for the Deaf Association, Mike Campo, who accepted the gift on behalf of the more than 100 children at the School.  Mike then presented Casa Popular Mexican Jalisco representative, Adriana Torres and Jocotopec Manager, David Serrano Corro, with a Certificate of Appreciation for the generous donation from Casa Popular Mexicana. Also in attendance were representatives of the Chapala-Jocotopec Rotary Club which provides transportation to Guadalajara for children requiring fittings for hearing aids.  A Certificate of Appreciation was also presented to Victor Hugo Olmeda, Coordinator of the Rotary Club’s transportation program.

The day also honored the Thirtieth Anniversary of The School for the Deaf, founded in 1979 by Roma and Jackie Hartley.  By 1983 the group became a registered charitable institution, and in 1995 the State of Jalisco took over responsibilities for the educational programs of the School.  The next major project for the Association will be renovations to double the size of the bathrooms at the School.
